 About Us

Southwest Central Fire Territory

Started in 2008, Southwest Central Fire Territory is located on the southwest side of South Bend in St. Joseph County. The territory includes mostly residential and commercial structures, but also includes large portions of the heavily traveled US-31 corridor and US-20 Bypass. Southwest Central Fire Territory provides Fire, Rescue, and BLS protection to approximately (#) residents in Centre, Portage and Greene Townships. ALS services are operated by the South Bend Fire Department and supported by St. Joseph County. Southwest Central Fire Territory is a combination department with full-time Firefighters and supplemented by volunteers for larger incidents. We currently have two operating stations. Station one is in Centre Twp and Station two is in Portage Twp. The third station will be in Greene Twp. but at this time it is not  built.  All stations will be maned 24/7 365 days a year. We are currently looking for Firefighters in Greene Twp that wish to join us and become Volunteers.
